Hoppy - aka Steve Hopkins
GREAT PRESS! Read a local newspaper's profile

Hoppy's Garden Art has been making artisan garden sprinklers since 2007. Each sprinkler is hand made using polished copper and blown glass balls. The colors of the glass balls are continually changing and are sourced from a variety of talented glass artists.

Hoppy, aka Steve Hopkins, has a history of artists in his family. Ancestors include Jesuit poet Gerard Manley Hopkins, Canadian artists Frances Ann Hopkins and Elisabeth Hopkins.

Growing up on Vashon Island in Puget Sound, Steve was always messin' with the creative process, and played around in many kinds of media, from pencil, pen and ink, batik, ceramics, photography, woodworking and more. After graduating from WSU with a BA in Advertising, for many years Steve didn't really have a consistent hands-on creative outlet. Then in the early 2000's he began making beautiful cedar and copper garden trellises and selling them at his local farmers market. After a time customers began asking for a certain spiral copper trellis to be made into a sprinkler, and being inspired by Dreamsprayer, Steve began designing and creating copper garden sprinklers, which his customers loved! Good thing he listened. He eventually further enhanced his original designs by incorporating copper spirals and colorful glass balls, which are available today, and began selling his art at home, garden art and flower shows, and street festivals throughout Western Washington. He has since added other simple and beautiful copper garden art pieces to his collection. Many items are available for purchase here on the web site.

Steve's other interests include summer backpacking in the Cascades, attending large and small (mostly rock) music concerts, learning about wine, and loves raising his young son (who likes to hammer away at copper pipe in his daddy's shop while rocking out to AC/DC). Steve and his son live in Bothell.

You can visit Steve at any of the shows listed on the Events page. Stop by and say Hi!
